The Sound of Houston

"The Sound of Houston" is an interactive, immersive musical experience created by Nanki Chugh and composer Theo Chandler for Musiqa. This portable, 50-minute program was designed to support Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in Fine Arts and Science for elementary school students. The program blends music, science, and storytelling to explore Houston’s natural environments through the perspective of an echolocating bat. It features an original script and musical score for narrator, mezzo-soprano, violin, clarinet, cello, and recorded animal sounds.

The premiere performance took place for 136 third-graders of Parker Elementary on April 30, 2026.
